Araucana thread anyone?

one has pipped. im very eggcited (sorry could not help myself) although i have just finished reading lots about chicks that pip then do not hatch, so im a little worried. wish them luck i put in 6 lf lavender araucana, i think 4 of the eggs are good but i left them all in as im new and dont have a proper candler.

i'm glad that my big incubator is no longer full, been a turbulent summer and the powers been out twice fro extended periods this last 2 weeks, and numerous smaller power flickers, way too many to count. there are only a handful of colored coturnix quail eggs in there right now. 6 or 8 hours worth of accumulated power outage, hoping beyond hope that something still hatches...

I have my 6th Araucana hen gone broody

I don't know why people complain about broody hens, I love em. I just happened to have another batch of fresh hatching eggs for her so she's setting tight. Too hot to be laying anyway and at this time, the chicks hatching from now on out won't be laying by spring so I'm not worried too much about more eggs that I'm not getting anyway. The fall chicks will be really sorted through and culled hard. Those chicks will probably be some really nice ones because they will mature over the winter and spring before even a chance they will be breeding/laying. I plan to have one less breeding pen soon and will use it for the juvenile pullets to grow up. The young cockerels may get to free range except for any that are just too good to lose.

Here's a pic of one before I took them to the barn to live. They're doing great, the temps have been so high they don't even get a light at night.

I had one out of the shell a couple hours ago. The other egg that pipped after it has not done anything since last night..and the other wiggler has not pipped. Will they do anything else?
I have not seen movement in any other eggs. Out of 21, 1 has hatched, 1 pipped, then stopped. And a wiggler has not done anything for hours..not a wiggle..

BTW, the chick that hatched is out of black pen..looks to be a blue.
