Araucana thread anyone?

syble, I love that your roo is sitting quietly on a child's hand. So cute.

As for hi comb, I'm not sure. The first photo shows it as sort of curvy; is that right? The SOP says the comb should be "pea, rather small, set evenly on head." So by those terms, it looks good to me.

lol thats my hand hehe. they are always on the go so its hard to get a photo unless i hold him which makes showing off his form and carriage nearly impossible lol. His comb is a wee bit wrinkley, not as drastic as some i have seen but i'm sure its probably supposed to be straighter... they are 17 weeks old so a bit over 4 months. When should i be hoping for eggs? around 6 months?

I have a blue tailed hen and a black rumples? i think it may be a hen now but it had/has a roo attitude...

Ugh, the waiting is killing me. Waiting for eggs to hatch, waiting for hens to start to lay eggs!
I threw out 6 of 8 Araucana eggs from Chicken scratch that were infertile. The last two are either going to explode or hatch. I'll know by the 22nd at the latest.

So, who's got the bluest eggs?

My Cuckoos have the bluest eggs of any Ameraucana, Araucana, or Easter Egger I've ever had, but, right now I'm collecting all that I've got for myself.

In a couple weeks I'll have some available again. By blue I mean a true blue. As for the richest "blue" it would be my Wheaten Ameraucanas, but a true blue, it's my Cuckoo Araucanas.

Can I call dibs on the next chicks/hatching eggs that you are selling? Pretty please?
Richest blue meaning least pale?

My Ameraucana/Araucana has bluish eggs, bluer than my purchased Araucana eggs, but still greenish blue.
I'm focusing on developing true blue, true Araucana eggs.

I can't wait to start my Theriogenology course this fall! (I'm sure it will focus on dog breeds, though) Either way, it should take some of the mystery out of chicken breeding for me.

OK, since I really only care what you Araucana people think;), I would love to know if anyone owns and loves (or owns and dislikes) the 1588 Genesis Hovabator. Descriptions of what you like or don't like would be mightily appreciated.

I had a 1588

Theromstat went wonky

They wanted me to buy a new one, I thought they should replace it as it was nearly new.

I no longer have a 1588

The sportsman is so reliable with it's antiquated technology, I am pretty sure I will not be needing any high faluten electroically challenged high tech incubator any time soon.

Then again I may be wrong...........

I have 1 588. In fact, I liked it enough I got a second one months later.

I do hear a lot of good things about the Sportsman or even the Binsea but I'm not made of money. My 1588's have not failed me, so I won't replace them.
