Araucana thread anyone?

I would love to meet you Megan. I only get notifications on showbirdauction if Ann puts an auction up. I just try to look at least once a day. I don't get notifications for this website anymore either, even though I went through and re-subscribed to several topics once the new format was up and running.

I will say, it is so much easier to upload pictures with the new format. The colors still give me a headach though, but not as bad as at first.

All my pens are screwed together with L brackets so I can take them apart and re-configure or even add a new pen on each side and then extend the gate at the aisle way. I love it. The roof is just boards that were laying around. They are set on top and then plastic is rolled out over the top, sides, and back. I figure I might have to replace the plastic every couple of years but its only $75.00 and since nothing is permant it means everything is movable and expandable. In the summer the plastic rolls up to the roof and the back is exposed for ventilation. LOVE IT! Also because its modular the pens can be expanded to twice their size by removing an interior wall.

So does everyone have 7 good eggs?

Lanae, love your duckwing girls. I envy people with odd silver duckwing variations. Birch Run Farm (btw where is she?) had a gorgeous odd colored one with red all up the wings and rump, inside each patterned feather at the shaft. So neat. My oddities are just pale colored splits. Love 'em but still, not really awesome coloration.

The last pullet shown is actually a Buff Columbian though. Quail is melanized columbian duckwing, that girl there looks to either be a normal Columbian Wheaten or a Columbian duckwingxwheaten split.

I have 7 blue eggs too! I will candle Sunday when I take out the turner.

I'm so glad my test eggs are developing. I've goat my new GQF 1502 coming tomorrow. That will give me the weekend to play around with it and make sure everything is working well, then I can start hatching some of my own. My Jersey Buffs are starting to lay, but I need to check for fertility. These are hens I hatched out last year. Then I need to separate my Araucanas into some color pens. Some will stay mixed.

I have 3 bilaterally tufted splash Roos that I hatched out last year. I'll have to decide which ones I want to keep. My gold duck winged roo ended up cleanfaced.

Happy hatching everyone. We want lots of pics!
