Araucana thread anyone?

Show Champion at the Mother Earth Fair APA show Saturday. This is "Stevie", Rob's bantam black. She is blessed with gorgeous tufts and was in perfect condition, for once. Reserve of Show was a Jersey Giant.

I am going to guess at the sex of these chicks. I have been pretty accurate this year so we will have to wait and see.
1 - chick (black w/ yellow) - pullet
2 - yellow chipmunk - pullet
3 - black/blue - roo? not sure
4 - yellow/tawny chipmunk - pullet
5 - black with yellow - pullet
6. black/blue with yellow tuft on right side - roo
7. sleeping chipmunk - pullet
8. black/yellow - pullet

Can't wait to see how accurate I am.

It looks like you're getting some long pointed hackle and saddle feathers, which means roo.

I've not seen many 4 mos. old pullets with a crown that red either.

I have to agree, I see shiny saddles coming in there, if you brush the feathers up to see whats coming in you can probably see a good amount of sex feathers on his back/rump and wing bows

This is my first year to be able to hatch my own chicks thanks to Lanae, and i finally managed some tufts thanks to coberdo and someone from another forum and hopefully soon a contribution from ray'n'debi. I only intend to have 1 or 2 breeding pens next spring so when everyone grows up I'll have to see what i've got to work with. I'm really digging my blue breasted rooster, but hes turning into an unpredictable **** head so I will be replacing him most likely with someone (hopefully of the same patterning). I'm been hatching lots of chipmunks from my own pen (every ones clean faced though). i'm seeing a bunch of duckwing-esque birds including this pretty pullet(i think lol):

Next year will involve alot of penning to add tufts to my flocks, i've got a pair of tufted (but tailed) blacks that i can breed with the black rumpless hen and cuckoo cockerel, I've also got a tufted white pullet (i think i will put her in the blue breasted red pen as i'm not sure what shes hiding but the green legs make me think wild type), and I've got a lovely little double tufted chipmunk, that i think is a cockerel, but hes got a single comb. when i sorted the chicks a week or so after hatch i got rid of one with blue legs. I swore his were green, now they almost look blue... can that happen or is it just a trick of the light?

Hopefully you are accurate, because a lot of pullets would definitely make for a great starter flock!

The first chick is hatched and it looks to be rumpless white, it was still wet so I couldn't tell if it has tufts. Another 2 eggs pipped, they're not due til tomorrow. Even if I just get 1 with tufts, I will be happy since I want to breed tufts into another project

I wanted to share some genetic info on some breeding I did.Through breeding results I find the araucana splash roosters I bought 3 years ago actually were dominate pied [erminett].A bird with 2 copiesis is white and when bred to black produce 100% pied [erminett].Birds that are also barred or cuckoo appear like splash cuckoo.Thought some of you would be interested in the results.
