Yes, it is our local feed store… I was thinking maybe Americauna because we bought some last year that looked very similar… I really don't care what they are I am hoping they are pullets though!
"Americanas" is a made up name that hatcheries use to try to trick chick buyers into think they are getting a pure bred chicken. They are Easter a Eggers.
There is a hatchery that sells purebred Araucanas. I don't remember the name right off the top of my head.....
Meyer hatchery sells sexed blue Ameraucana pullet chicks for $20 each.
Cackle just introduced black Ameraucana straight run for $10 each.
I don't think most feed stores are ordering those.......if you buy your chick from a feed store, it's an Easter Egger. It should still lay colored eggs, it's just not a standardized color or guaranteed to lay blue eggs. Not a thing wrong with Easter eggers, they're a staple in lots of backyard flocks. Mine included
