I have been breeding for a while now thanks to some great breeders here in SC helping me get started. But are there really so few of us in the US?

I seldom see many websites listed or eggs for sale.
I have come to really enjoy this breed and want to know how many others are working on this besides the show people I see listed on club info. I don't care to show but just adore seeing these magnificent birds grow and develop.

If any of you have photos please post them. Let's show others how beautiful they are.

They are definitely few and far between. I just started breeding 4 years ago. It's been challenging but fun. I am still a long ways from turning out that "perfect" bird. I think the breed is gaining some popularity. I sell hatching eggs occasionally and the price they fetch has risen considerably within the last couple years.

I have lots of pics of my birds on my website: www.araucanasonline.com

Love your profile pic!

I love yours as well!
My website is listed, too. I need better and more photos of my birds but just don't seem to have the time once I do all the morning chores and start over doing evening chores.
I will certainly visit your website in the morning.

EVERYONE should have araucanas, they are a very interesting breed, mellow, non flighty, tons of character....

Plus, rumpless chicks are the cutest!

We have a few

Lots of work to do to get our flock where we want it.

They can be a bit frustrating.

We have a beautiful double tifted pullet growing out, that of course has a tail.

I have some. I got mine from Nancy U. last year. I only have a tailed mottled hen and a black and gold rumpless roo left. At about 4 months of age I had several die an a few week period. They never showed any signs of illness and it was just my araucanas. Oh well. They are beautiful birds and maybe someday I will get some more.

No, I have not ever posted on the Araucana forum. I have so many places I go on the WWW that I just haven't had time to visit that one. I figured it more for show people and though I try and breed for the standard, I will not show. I have nothing against those that do show but I have shown horses, dogs and flowers and now my DD is showing Guinea Pigs.
I breed for me and what I like and that isn't always what a judge wants to see. I like to make me happy now.

Thanks for the link and I may check it out soon.
