Haha you are right! Since I wasn't buying for the breed I didn't suffer a blow! :-D

And easter eggers are great! They lay you pretty eggs and all mine are sweethearts.

Ha! I pretty much said the same thing you just did. I get them for the personalitiy and I am going to start breeding them by spring(hopefully). While I love to admire there pretty eggs, I dont eat them.

Ditto on the most feed stores don't sell Araucana.

They are a really hard breed to purchase lol
a lot of places say they have "True Araucana" and they mostly have tails, no tufts to speak of, or they lay a pink egg!!!

The true rumpless tend to have a lower fertility rate sometimes so some people mix them with a tailed.
tufts are also a kill linked gene, so it's better to have a tufted roo and all tuftless hens, or vice versa.

Absolutely--I have some purebred Ameraucanas, but the Easter Eggers honestly lay prettier eggs. Gorgeous deep greens with brown speckles, pale sky blue, clear turquoise... my Ameraucana eggs can't match them.

No I am not disappointed at all!!! I am super excited in fact, because this sounds like a wonder chicken, with personality traits I want in a pet!!!!! And the eggs sounds simply beautiful!!!!! Thanks!!!!
