are all banties "scaredy birds" or are mine *special*?

My mother claims to be deathly scared of chickens (she has never met mine, lives too far away) on account of having been repeatedly attacked by a neighbor's banties when she was a kid.

She thinks I'm *nuts* to have chickens.

Then again she just sort of does think I'm nuts, so, ;P

I have 3 banty chicks about a week old right now and every time I approach the brooder they act as if they are going to be eaten. When I try to pick them up I swear there about to go into convulsions. They go ballistic to say the least. All my standard sized chicks last year seemed to be tons calmer. Especially my Rhode Island Reds. They still let me pick them up!
