Found a fairly large white egg in my coop this afternoon. All my birds are bantams. The largest layer is a Sebright. I have 3 ee pullets and a cochin that are yet to lay, and maybe an OEGB. All 3 should begin at any time.
Questions are:
1. Are EE eggs always any color but white?
2. Do bantam cochins lay a big egg?
3. " " OEGB's lay a large egg too, pound for pound, (ounce for ounce)!

From my 3 EEs I get 3 very different colors - one almost kakki colored egg, one a pale green and one almost, but not quite white - tinted when compared to a white cloth - no white eggs around here any more!

I have 2 older EEs, and have gotten 2 white eggs in the past two months. Has to be them.

Hey pbj...
It is pretty white. No tint that I could tell. Do bantam cochins lay white eggs?

Mine have never laid but I'm thinking that I hatched them from light brown, lightly tinted eggs.

Bantam cochins lay pretty small eggs, especially when they first start laying. They do get larger as the hen gets older. The egg can be anywhere from white to light brown, I think. I also have EEs who I think are laying, but I don't find any blue or green eggs. Just white to brown and all shades in between.
