Are australorps friendly to humans

My BA was the sweetest cuddle bug as chick. She loved to hide and snuggle at the crook of my neck and used my hair like a mama hen's wings. She's still very sweet and likes to talk, though she's not loud. She just makes little cute chirpy noises all the time, especially when she's happy (pretty much all the time!). She did go through a weird teenage chicken phase for a few weeks, where she got feisty when picked up and didn't want to be held, but she was still sweet. She's snapping out of it now and getting close to being back to her sweet cuddly self. She's currently about 16-17 weeks old. She consistently has been the sweetest chicken in my little flock to the other chickens. She holds her own as #2 or #3 in the pecking order and she doesn't get involved in as many chest bump and stare-down challenges as the other chickens. Her BFF is my barred rock, who is the reigning queen hen, and she always shoves her way next to her BFF whenever they're chilling or sleeping, she "necks" with the BR. :love It's really cute and funny. I'd get a 2nd BA in a heartbeat!
 
Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Australorps have a reputation as being a very calm and gentle breed, and they've earned that reputation. I've raised them for years, and never had an aggressive one in my flock (of course there can always be exceptions with any breed). With hand feeding, and frequent, but gentle handling, not only can Australorps be picked up and held, but my children, and now my granddaughter, made lap pets out of them. In addition to a very docile temperament, they are extremely hardy, and the best layers of the standard, brown egg laying breeds. You can't go wrong with Australorps. Oh Absolutely!! I keep BA's and wow, they are such sweet hearts!!! They crave attention. My girls follow me everywhere, beg to sit on my lap, talking to me all day long...just real love machines. I highly recommend BA's in every flock!

My Black Australorps are the calmest members of my flock, even the rooster is very sweet! Like has already been said, they seem to stay out of a lot of flock drama and just very calmly hold their own in the pecking order. Very nice birds.
 
My black australorp are a odd bunch lol. They don't like to be held and they always try to escape when I go to feed them. When they were just chicks they were black with white but now all black with some green in the feathers, not sure if that is normal. The Amber whites are very loving always lets me touch and hold them. Tried to social the blacks but now the are grown they kind of look evil lol
