Sadly the quiet rooster is a rare specimen in the chicken world. A banty roo is like a little red tricycle with an 18 wheeler horn. They are small, flashy, and think they are as big or bigger than any standard size rooster. We love to watch our Japanese banty rooster run off a full grown Australorp or Black Giant Roo. They take off when they see him coming !!

I think an old english game Bantam is quiet. I heard one at Chickn's house and it made me laugh it was adorable and quiet.

(Unless it was just that specific roo that was quiet)
Maybe the OEGB people can tell you if that is true.

Oh, Lurky, Lurky, Lurky. If only that were true. I had a little silver duckwing that drove my neighbors crazy and I was on their blacklist for quite a while....until a fox ate him.

And the little quail antwerd I have now could shatter glass with his crow. Personally, I like the deep, throaty crows of the big guys. As somebody said, the quiet rooster is rare indeed.

My BB Red roo (aka Mr. Big Stuff) crows with gusto, but it is higher pitched and not nearly as loud as my big guys (but I don't tell him that!)
