Are birds good parents?

I've been looking at birds and I'm wondering if birds are good parents because they seem to take good care of their young. For example, hummingbirds defend heir nest against larger animals, chickens cluck to the chicks when they find food and protect them, and least terns mob predators and drive them away by dive bombing them. Is this true?

Yes in general most birds are very good parents indeed. Not all though. And individuals of species which are normally good parents can fail to do a good job themselves. Nothing much is a golden rule.
