Are Buff Orpingtons Quieter than other breeds??

Buffs are generally a quiet friendly breed but you can get a girl that likes to talk. every chicken has it's own personality and may or may not conform to the breed norm. right now my quietest girl is a white leghorn and my flightiest is an ee. I have always found buff orpingtons to be a great breed and a good choice for beginners

We have BO's and BR's. The BO's are definitely quieter - both make a soft "coo coo" noise and that's about it (unless they're doing their egg song, and that gets pretty loud for about 5 minutes). The BR's are both chatty kathy's - not loud, but pretty constant.- they just have to tell you how their day is going...all the time!

If/when we add more to the flock we're definitely getting both breeds again.

Here's our top hen proudly announcing her egg: (and this is as loud as she gets, and only for a few minutes)
