I have found buttons to be a couple decibels quieter than a screaming macaw. Seriously! Especially a solo male, oh boy. He screams loud enough to rival a fire alarm. Then there is the "darth vader" noise as he is calling for a hen. Unfortunately, this rooster is too aggressive to hens, so he is a bachelor. Currently they are driving me crazy. Perhaps just one happy pair might not be too noisy, but it's never quiet here.

ra, BobWhiteQuailLover and I have been sending PM's to each-other. If you want button eggs to incubate and hatch send quailladyoffortmeyes a PM.

When I kept my buttons outside during the day there were REALLY loud and would whistle all day long. When I moved them to my quail building they hardly make any sounds. If they're going to be in the house I don't think you'll have to worry about other people hearing them.

Thank you so much! I actually have been looking at her website for a few days now! I think I will get some to try! I will have to wait a week or so as I have many staggered hatches going on! I showed her website to my daughter and she wants to give them a go as well!
We just love hatching eggs! I love the BYC too! It is a little hard to find people that have the same enthusiasm as I do for poultry!
Thank you for all the information!

Here is my view on noise...I have tons of buttons, so I can here them calling a mile away. When one boy is at it, everyone joins in, kind of like roosters...BUT they have a funny sound, it's kind of like a growl and howl noise, a pew pew pew, and pew pew (if female). Perfect for Halloween kind of sounds. At night, the birds are quiet, each pair is snuggled with each other, sometimes an egg in between them. If you have a bachelor, he tends to call out for a hen more often. The pairs seem to be quiet, unless the vacuum is on or they see the big black garbage can.

What is funny is one minute they can be noisy and bachelor calls everywhere and when they see me opening a shipment of water bottles or cage cups, or even when I bring in the mealworms, they are silent and just stare...they know whatever it is, it's for them

Silly, goofy birds!

They sound fun! I love my jumbo quail, I wasn't sure how they would be at first but they are pretty and funny! I remember when I hatched them and they grew so fast! The kids thought it was so funny when they started to fly out of the brooder onto the kitchen floor!
I think I will be contacting you soon to grab some eggs!
God bless
