Are carrots turning my chickens' feathers orange?

The only way carrots or any food will evect the color of feathers is at moulting and growing out. It can not do it when the feathers are fully grown out for they stop growing then. It is most likely somthing that they brushed up against or dust bathed or rolled in.

I'm pretty sure the feathers aren't vascular too, or clipping their wings would make them bleed. They're digging around in the dirt today to get cool, so we'll see if the orange is gone- perhaps it was just oils.

It's funny because I give them organic carrots (it seems like the right thing to do!), and I just give them peels. A few days I gave them non-organic carrot peels, and they were definitely less enthused; they didn't eat much of them. So the next day I gave them organic carrot peels again and they ate them all! Very interesting.

Thanks everybody for your input!
