Are chicken collars good?

So can dog collars, cat collars, and neck ties on humans.

As long as one is aware of the risk then they can take that risk or not their choice. Trying to argue the point is not going to get you very far. It can be difficult to tell when a rooster is struggling to swallow or struggling to breathe when we're not right there with them 100% of the time. Dogs cats and humans it tends to be more clear when they're choking.

Noise level is genetic. I've had hens over the years that scream repeatedly like sirens for 30+ minutes, while others are nearly silent. I would recommend keeping quiet breeds and removing problem causers, though it sounds like your neighbors are the main problem themselves

I wont be removing my hens, I dont really care what they think at this point.

The rooster I processed for dinner is dead and has no idea his thigh was on my plate last night. The rooster in the crow collar is being forced not to do what comes naturally for who knows how long because the human caregiver can’t or won’t deal with the situation.
Wow you really don't get it.

There is always an opinion, some vegetarians and animal lovers will say that you are cruel for chopping a chickens head off, others will say that collars are cruel and then there are situations where someone will say keeping a chicken alive is cruel. You also have people saying that chopping a chickens head off is cruel and you should break its neck instead. Everyone has an opinion about something.

The point is that keeping poultry is not all daisies and rainbows and it doesn't appear that anyone is trying to be intentionally cruel, it appears as though they are trying to do the best with the situations that present themselves.

Everone has there own opinion, lets please not start a intire debate or fight please! Im going to have to lock this thread if so, so lets just end it there, ok?

Do you have any methods to get them to be quite?
Do you have a fenced garden or a very large run? What breeds do you have (some breeds are louder than others).

Be very strict in timing and food. Make sure they have plenty of space and hiding places.

General tips:
  1. Get yourself an automatic pop door. Let the chickens free range as soon as the sun is up. And auto close after sunset (lumen).
  2. Make sure they have plenty of feed and water the whole day.
  3. Don’t give treats or only give them at a set time like 30 minutes before the pop door closes.
  4. Don’t make changes in your flock for a few years or take the loudest hens out (sell the 2 loudest hens. Maybe replace the loudest hens with 2 friendly hens that are not loud. Consider bantams in the future.

I have hens no roosters. We have one neighbor that yell wayyy louder then our hen, I doubt they got a complain because they still have there pool parties... Same with dogs barking and lawn mowers. So I dont see why they must hate chickens, some people.
Humans tend to be more used to sounds made by humans, or pets that are more commonly kept than chickens . . . that is the only reason I can think of why so many people will complain about hearing chickens but they will be okay with dogs barking or humans yelling.

Dog and cat collars are not made to compress on their throat and voice box. No-crow collars are.
No-crow collars are not made to compress on their voice box, because they aren't worn over their voice box.

Like humans, birds have a windpipe and two lungs, but from there, birds are distinctly unlike mammals.
...
The voice box in chickens is called the syrinx, located down in the chest cavity where the windpipe splits to enter each lung. Both male and female chickens have a syrinx, so hens can crow, too, if they feel like it.

In all fairness to people that aren't keeping chickens, most other domesticated animals are usually kept indoors and/or don't otherwise make noise during normal human sleeping hours.
