Are chicken collars good?

Do you have a fenced garden or a very large run? What breeds do you have (some breeds are louder than others).

Be very strict in timing and food. Make sure they have plenty of space and hiding places.

General tips:
  1. Get yourself an automatic pop door. Let the chickens free range as soon as the sun is up. And auto close after sunset (lumen).
  2. Make sure they have plenty of feed and water the whole day.
  3. Don’t give treats or only give them at a set time like 30 minutes before the pop door closes.
  4. Don’t make changes in your flock for a few years or take the loudest hens out (sell the 2 loudest hens. Maybe replace the loudest hens with 2 friendly hens that are not loud. Consider bantams in the future.
Yes I do have a hugge spot for them.
I have, Black sex link, RIR, buff orpington.

They do have lots of hiding places and space in general.

Yes I do have a auto door, and they get out as soon as sun is up. HOWEVER two of my hens have the fattest butts and wait for us while yelling to come get them off.

Yes they do have two waterers dry food, corn bread and at afternoon a salad.

I give them treats before the go to bed like 10 minutes before. There not loud at that point.

I wont be getting rid of my hens, there all really special and I cant part with them

Well there is your problem right there, you have trained them that if they yell you will do what they are supposed to for them.
Despite what some think chickens are not stupid, when they yell gently push them out of their auto door and they should eventually get the idea of what is expected of them.
If the door is too small for them you may have to get a bigger door.

She knows how to get out they all do, they have done it for so long they probably also know the science behind it... One day she just randomly started yelling and waiting for us to come get her and so we did. I have got alive worms and I put her on the bar and wait for her to jump down then reward her with it. However every time she "jumped" down she basically fell it was noy gracefull as it should be. I think she just has a confidence flop or maybe not a big enough space to fly. Although everone but her and her friend can get down.

People need to do more research before they start keeping chickens. The fact is that hens can be just as loud as roosters. A roosters crow isn’t typically any louder than a dogs bark. If a person isn’t allowed to have roosters then I think it would be a good idea to understand the risks involved. Statistically the hatch ratio is 50/50 male:female. The accuracy of sexed chicks is ~90%. At some point most people will end up with a rooster. It’s very simple to ask at the feed store or the breeder what their policy is if you end up with a cockerel. If it’s not an option to return them then maybe consider purchasing POL birds instead to guarantee they are female. That way if you can’t chop off the roosters head and eat him for dinner, as we do, then you don’t have to worry about getting a rooster.
Which is so weird that roosters aren’t allowed but hens are.

My hen songs can be heard all around. My rooster Arooos maybe 12 -18 times a day?

The neighbors turkeys call quite a lot (love them)

Another neighbor starts their very loud car at 4:30 AM every morning and lets it run for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.

Another neighbor is a nurse and woks the nightshift in the ER at our hospital. He Mows at 7:00 AM.

Point being, why research? Neighborhoods are just noisy in general. Is it because it’s livestock and they are disposable? Cars, Mowers & Dogs not so much?

An intermediate perch or lower all your perch's, she may have hurt herself getting down at some point and is not graceful because she is trying to protect that area. Her friend may just be a follower.

I agree, if you don’t want the chickens to yell for you, ignore them if they do.

Make life as easy as possible for the chickens without the need to interfere. If one of the chickens has not enough space to jump off , change the roost height or make a ramp. And yes, if the pop door is too tight, a larger door can help.

+ Ignore the neighbours if they are unreasonably annoyed. Of if they have a dog that barks, have a noisy mower …. mention that you dont like that either whenever they say something about your noisy chickens.

Just putting this here for a random fact but chickens are the loudest bird species in the world because a rooster's crow is recorded at 180 decibels. A hen's egg song is not as loud. Before you start saying that hens are louder than roosters, no, they are not. It is hard to explain, but the loudness of their egg song just has a greater distance than a rooster's crow, therefore it can sound louder to your ears-while the crow has a longer distance range, the loudness of it quickly depletes as the noise travels, so it can sound not as loud when you are not right by their beak. The crow of a male chicken is 180 decibels recorded right at their mouth, while a hen's egg song is about 100-140 decibels at their mouth.

My honest opinion? An egg song is way more annoying than a crow, even though a crow is louder, because the egg song's sound depletes less quickly as it reaches a farther distance.

Possible.... One of my neighbors have pool parties at 9pm when most are trying to relax... Okay pool parties are not bad, but they play rap with profanity at full volume, yell, scream and shout. Lawn mowers every day, construction everwhere so why chickens? I would love a rooster for my hens, maybe we all should start a petition for chicken freedom? New Jersy is going to be hard although.
