Well, I believe ya'll have solved my puzzle! Thank you. And...I will keep any basketballs away from them!! I am moving my 4 week old domoniques in with the white leghorns in the morning. I built them their own brooder to set inside the run with the others for a couple of weeks at least. It is chicken wire all around so they can get to know each other. I will leave the older birds locked up in the coop until I get my little ones in place.

I made the mistake of bringing in a windsock I was trying to attach to the outside of the run. While it was outside, they were eyeing it warily, but not panicking. Inside, it was like I let a shark loose in a pool of guppies - doesn't help that it was a little breezy so the windsock was dancing around.
