My Fiance and I are looking to buy a home in Belleville soon after our wedding in July, and we are planning on raising chickens. Will Belleville give us any trouble? We are looking at homes around Van Buren Township, but plan to stay within the Belleville zip code.

I was just trying to figure out the same thing! I currently live in Van Buren Twshp and would like to start a small flock. Your best bet would be to check the zoning map here: http://www.vanburen-mi.org/Development/zoning_map_07.pdf . I found that many houses (mine included - yay!) are zoned for agricultural use. Though I don't know the exact rules I'm pretty sure a small "hobby" flock should be okay. But I would avoid any roosters... unless you're way out in the country of course! Sure hope this helps. =)
