Nope. Not pets. Do I like them, provide them an awesome home and tons of food, of course. I haven't named any of them and I haven't bothered to tame any of them. Some I like better than others but I'd have no problem killing them all if I had to.

My chickens are here to produce eggs and meat. As an added bonus they provide me with countless hours of amusement. I have other animals that I raise for meat and i raise them with respect and provide them with the best lifestyle possible but I don't enjoy them the same way I enjoy my chickens. Truth is, society today, separates death and food-though one comes from the other.

My chickens are friendly but I think they are not pets in the same was as my dog. I think my chickens tolerate me because I bring them yummy treats.

Mine are definitely pets.
There was a time before I had them when I thought I could eat them when they didn't lay anymore... but that was before I saw how petlike they were.
Every day they crowd at the gate when they hear me...

So I have to call it a big yes.

Heck yes they come when i whistle and they guard my pecans from squirrels and give the meter man a hard time (at least they used to now he refuses to come in the fence

) they have even saved a little girl my mom takes care of from our pig ( he meant no harm he just plays a little rough) and as a bonus the save us money on eggs and we sell their features as crafting material and we use them to make hair pieces that have become so popular.

My chickens are pets, but if you have a big farm with 50+ chickens then you won't be able to get to know each one so then they're simply live-stock

Definitely pets! I hadn't named my Black Jersey Giants, but when something got a hold of 5 out of my 6 them I decided to name the survivor "Black Betty" :) She's super sweet, and gets along with the new ISA (ISO?) Browns that I was just getting ready to introduce to the others. She doesn't let me hold her, but she's super beautiful and sleek. Her feathers are so soft she can just slip out of your hands when you try to get ahold of her :)

I can't say I care as much for the birds I got as replacements.... but I'm sure they'll grow on me too :)

My chickens have always been pets and always will be..... yes, even after they stop laying eggs..
They'd probably be pets even if I didn't want them to be.... how could you not adore birds that follow you around like puppies?
