A lot of our broody hens eggs hatched on Tuesday & Wednesday. But some are due today. Are the eggs & chicks to much for the hens?

Thanks.

A broody hen will stay on the nest after the first chick(s) hatch until she decides it is time to teach the chicks to eat, drink and forage, usuall on the second day. At that point she will abandon any remaining eggs. She may even cover the chicks in a another location entirely, as when they chicks hatch in a hay loft and jump to the barn floor on the second day or so.

Welcome to BYC!

Judy has given you some great advice. You could always finish up the remaining eggs that may have been abandoned, in an incubator or hatcher.

Good luck with all your broodies and chicks and welcome to our flock!
