Are chicks supposed to have a small red nubby thing...

under their tail..towards the belly area, after they are born? she had something slimy hanging off it also..is it the umbilical cord? i didnt notice it on my quail chicks....its a few centimeters long...and tissue red...it doosent look good...will she die? thanks for any info, Wendy

Could be an umbilical hernia? I had one that had it like that and it didn't make it.

I guess it depends on how big it is. Is it up moving around and otherwise normal?
