Are duckie diapers worth it???

Totally worth it, if you want to have your pet inside. Without diapers, wiping mounds of bird poop off the floor/your clothes/your furniture gets old really fast.

With mine from thegoosesmother.com it still gets soggy or leaks occasionally, but it's a million kazillion times better than the times I have a bird inside without one.

the smell is not too bad if you don't feed them high protein foods before you diaper them, and while they are diapered limit their food and water intake (like if you just wanted them inside for a little while). that cuts down on smell and over all poop. I change my duck's diapers ever 2-4 hours if they are couch snuggling, and if it gets stinky, I just slip a new diaper insert in and it's better. If you don't want to go running outside to throw the pooping diaper insert away, keep a diaper genie (if you diaper often like I do), or you and use a zip top bag (you can use a larger one for a whole evening if you plan on changing often, then it doesn't smell up the whole house.

I love mine

There is nothing like having friends come over, yall sit down to watch a movie, and a duck jumps on the couch, into their laps, and looks at them like " Well, who are you?"

Or watching a duck play with the other duck in the mirror in the hallway, or the fireplace glass! Only problem i ever had was the feathers during molt and when my muscovy drake would be upset that the other two ducks in the house were getting more attention he would fly to the top of the sofa, walk across it, and knock over what ever was on the end table for attention

Thanks guys! I like that one too, especially because of the shadow on the wall

And not very. Goonie was about 5 months the first time i put it on him, and within ten minutes he kinda forgot about it and went exploring. Its not so much training them to wear it as to make it comfortable for them. When I had CHarlie girl and Jack in the house they wore them from 2 days - 4 months. Sure, they pecked at them and tried to play with them while they wore them but it was more curiousity than irritation.

they will peck and pull at it at first, but treats and training (usually for older ducks) help ease the process. I've successfully diaper trained two 8 month old ducks who were rather unfriendly when I first adopted them. They are fine now. They usually pull at it for a few minutes at first to get it comfy, then they'll forget about it until they need to readjust.

Cool... I think once my boys get bigger I'll give it a try. I'd like them to be able to hang out & cuddle with me. Right now the only place they will have is the sun room.
