Are ducks territorial?

There is a pond behind our house...I cant see it and its pretty far away. If we provided our ducks with adequate swimming water would they stay with us or go down to the pond?

Do they know there is a pond? If not then they will most like stay. They stay close first anyway, perhaps as they grow they will venture out.
