Hey everyone! A friend of mine from work has some Golden Pheonix Bantams that he is giving away for free to a good home. I currently have 5 full grown and 6 six week old large breeds (not integrated together yet).

I am debating putting my claim on 1 or 2 of these bantams but I am curious as to if you guys have any pros or cons for owning them?

If I were to bring them home, how would I integrate them with my flock? Should I put them with the babies first?

You integrate adult birds with adult birds. Just because Bantams are small, does not mean they are susceptible to being picked on automatically. I have OEGH which are small, but quite feisty. They carry their own. (kind of like John Wayne VS TP...... John Wayne doesn't take $$$$ off anyone) :gig I think the Phoenix are in similar category.
When your chicks get ready to be integrated to rest of flock, you will do it then. (to complete flock of adults)
You may get to like Bantams, as they are Eye Candy.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,, and :welcome

And if you have a rooster, make sure he isn't WAY too big for the hens. It's fine for him to be a little big, but not so much he crushes her.

That will have to be something to think about...our Swedish Flower rooster is about 13 weeks old and a little larger than our standard hens. I'm thinking he will grow a little bit more too :/

He might not even try to mount them. I had silkie hens that my large orpington rooster protected from other roos, but he never attempted to mount them.

I have 3, I bought them not knowing what they were. They are fast and hold their ground with the other 15 I have, course they are all only 8 weeks. They play more than the others and are fun to watch.
Here's 2 of them a boy and girl (Roo Roo and Roadrunner)
