Are hova bators any good?

Check out incubatorwarehouse.com and cutlersupply.com they will most likely have your best prices depending on where you live calculating shipping cost.
I highly recommend the 1588 also. No chasing temperatures around. I have two of them and my first hatch that I did with them was 100% and it was my first time incubating eggs.

Lol thats perfect for me thankyou soooooooo much ill try to order today!Just one question ill be incuabting plenty of ducks eggs and stuff but I dont think the turner will be able to hold quail eggs would you think I could maybe put some paper or something in the cups so that the quail eggs could fit and still get turned?

At cutler supply they have the 1588 genises with a eggturner for $155 which works out for me becouse I already have some money saved up so I can buy it is that a good choice you think?

That is the one I bought and I am happy with it. If you also want to do quail eggs make sure you get the turner that also has a set of quail racks.

Remember that they add shipping to that too. My total was $179. and I got it in 5 days.

I love my Hova 1588! It comes preset, so you don't have to mess with getting the temp. right. All you really have to do is add water and plug it in. You can't get much easier than that! I've had great hatches in mine too. I also like that I can hatch 42 eggs at a time (the auto turner holds 42) versus the Brinsea only holding 24. My husband would probably like the 24 capacity better, but I personally like hatching LOTS of eggs at a time.

The 1588 w/turner is a good choice. You need to check the shipping charges, too, to get your total cost.

Found out shipping is $15 but thats ok im going to order it as soon as I can so I can get hatching some eggs!

My first incubator was the 1602. It is really moody. The best hatch I got out of it was about 40%. It is very sensitive to room temp changes. Even a 5 degree shift (like at night) whacks it out. I lost a lot of eggs using it. I bought it because it was the $55 model. I then lost more than the cost of the good incubator in egg loss.

I just bought the 1588 and completed (mostly) a hatch in it. I put in 14 eggs initially and later pulled 2 duds out (leaving 12). So far 9 of the 12 have hatched and are doing great. I started to throw out the other three last night. I always crack my no-hatchers just to see what went wrong. Imagine my surprise when I cracked one and had blood seep out! It wasn't a dud! ACK! I put it and the other two back in there and will give them a few more days (although it is likely I killed that one by cracking it

).

Soooo, so far I have a 75% hatch and at least one of the ones left has developed. It is likely that I could get a 100% hatch.

Now... this lot of eggs is no better than all the others I hatched. I did nothing different. It is all about the incubator. The 1588 held temps perfectly. Humidity has been easy peasy. I wish I had spent the money for the 1588 first and not lost all my other hatches.

My advice would be to buy the 1588 and not get the turner at first. When you save up more money, THEN get the turner. I don't have the turner in mine and it has been fine. You just have to go turn them all by hand. No biggee. It is well worth the money to go ahead and get the 1588.

Good luck!

edited to add- I bought mine from Cutler Supply. The cost is the same as from the manufacturer direct (actually a couple of dollars cheaper when you factor in shipping). Plus I needed to order some other stuff too. They were great and got it here really fast!

I got the Genisis 1588 too. Mine ar ehatching right now. I love it. It keeps the temp within 1* and I just plug it in and go. No having to worry about setting a temp or changing a temp. It's all pre set from the company. I am glad that I sent the money. It will last forever, I bet.

Best price here, direct from the manufacture.

I love my hovabator. I have the 1602 with turner. The egg turner is so nice to have. And the incubator holds temp well and humidity is really stable.

But what you should also get at the same time is the Brinsea Spot Check thermometer. They are really accurate. I just got one and realized that my other thermometers were off. That means I incubated my last hatch 2 degrees too low.

I wish I would have bought this thermometer sooner, it's really fantastic.

Edited for clarity.
