Hi natyvidal. I got into this thread a little late but you've gotten some great answers here! I have a lovely Mennonite lady in my area who takes my live cockerels and dresses them out for me for $1 each. We got three cockerels with our order of day-old pullets and somewhere around 13 weeks they became little gangstas, so off to Mrs. W's they went. They were EE's and man, were they delicious! I put them in the crockpot (one at a time, of course, I think there's one left) and made dumplings. If I can help it, I will never again buy Pilgrim's Pride or any other commercial chicken. There was plenty of meat on this bird for our family. I cooked it till it fell off the bone then cut it up. The aroma was DROOLING delicious. I will buy straight-run after this just to have cockerels to put in the freezer. Fear not! Enjoy!
