I am specifically interested in Rose Comb Red leghorns. I know the reputation of leghorns, but does that hold true in the winter?

I should have added I do not have the ability to add light in the winter.

Mine are single comb, but they laid eggs right on through the winter day after day (free range/out early every morning)....probably not as cold here in VA, but we do have single digit day and nights.
