are mcmurrays buff orpingtons good for showing in county fairs

You may be right eenie,

but as i read this again it sure reads like his group has serious birds and shuns those who don't.

I suppose its up to him to clear the air. I am willing to be wrong.

most hatcherey birds aren't great quality, but i did hear from a poultry show judge that mcmurray's austrolorps are actually really good

Mom 4 buff orpingtons are from Mcmurrays
The roosters are a pretty gold color only one of the hens are good body type.
She ended up getting a best of breed trophy on the hen and 2nd place in show with her rooster.

It really depends on your competition and luck of bird.

Most fairs I've seen some SAD examples of the breed win good prizes, so, I'd say you have fair chances.

I rarely ever truly see McMurray Orpingtons weigh the proper amount (almost always underweight) or have a good tail (nearly all with a pinched tail) Those are the top two faults I see on a consistent basis. The next is the common general production layer body. (thin build, body shape identical to nearly all other "heritage" breeds hatcheries offer)

That's a shame.

maybe you should read up a little about what 4-H is and what it strives to do for kids.

4-H is about education, personal growth and community spirit. I have not noticed "shunning" being promoted in any of the 4-H literature.

I won't be ordering any bantams from you any time soon,

Jerry

I think Gnomes Bantams was expressing a sadness at being shunned because they have hatchery quality. Don't be so quick to assume to worst about people.

To the OP, you might get lucky, but if you're wanting to show, ordering from a hatchery is always a gamble. If I were you I'd get some that you KNOW are SQ from a breeder.
Good luck!

agreed. that was pretty harsh.
