Are most of your hatches complete in 24 hrs?

I had one hatch last night, 3 this morning, and two this afternoon. I can see that at least one other one has a pip. Is it reasonable to expect more to hatch or is that wishful thinking?

I had a hatch that lasted more than 3 days. Some are fast, some are slow... I think alot depends upon where they were in the bator.... my guess anyway.

My last hatch was spread over four days. It all depends on temps and things..

don't give up hope. we leave our eggs in the hatcher for up to a week after due date and then i rattle them and see if there is any noise or movement. if not then i will very carefully crack a small pip hole in just the shell and check for movement. then if no movement i will slowly peel the shell to make sure the baby did not survive and if not at what point it died so to figure out what went wrong and where so that it might be corrected for the next hatch.

I always thought so because generally they would all hatch within a few hours of each other. But have a hatch going now that has been surprising me, so that no longer holds true.

Pampered Pullet.. wondering how you carefully crack a small pip hole in just the shell? sounds like a good idea, but how, do you use a tool?

We had another one hatch last night while we were asleep (the one with a pip). There is one that is zipping now. I can tell some are seriously rocking, but can't tell if they are pipped. My LG has officially worked better than my homemade guerilla bator (plus we candled them fairly frequently b/c the kids & extended family enjoyed seeing the embryos so much).

The hatch I'm watching now was due on the 29th. They started hatching on the 28th, and my last 2 eggs have just pipped. (30th)
I rotated the eggs so they were in different parts of the incubator- had them in mushroom containers.
But- this also happened under a broody- 3 days for all to hatch. Some just take longer, hard to pin down exactly why.

I guess I should have moved them around the incubator. I had them in an egg turner and left them where they were. I bet the ones that have already hatched were closer to the heating element.

It also seems like the Turkin eggs are hatching sooner than the cochins.
