I have 24 birds, 8 are a year old and the rest are 3 months old that we hatched. The last few weeks I noticed the feed is going fast so I monitored with 1 feeder that holds 10 lbs of feed and that lasts 2 days and they empty it on the 3rd morning. So with that I calculated they're going through 50lbs in about 10 days. They only get scratch grains maybe once a week and I know they've been eating 1 egg a day for the last 2 weeks cause one of them keeps cracking hers when she lays it and it lands on the lip of the nest box and spills out onto the floor. When my older birds were young, I did notice they also had a sudden increase in how much they were eating around the 3 month age and it slowed down a few weeks before they started laying so I've assumed this increase is normal to keep up with growth and back then I had 18 birds so of course more birds now equals more food. I'd just like to know if this sounds like a normal amount for them to be eating or if I should look for potential thieves?
