are my blr dotties show quality?

in my own little thoughts...mind you I just woke up...how can a variety that isn't recognized win best of breed? They're competing against birds that area already in the standard???

I am just revisiting this thread with an update (I know it's overdue)
I did show my hen and we didn't win (we already knew we wouldn't) but I was finally able to purchase that $30 hen I wanted for the money I could afford. she had beautiful body type I was hoping to cross back with mine to improve type. unfortunately, a weasel saw her and most of my flock as a tasty meal and she was part of the flock that was killed. so I am rebuilding. hopefully I will be able to get a new hen from the same breeder at a reasonable price unless I can find quality eggs here to buy (I say eggs because I only need 1-2 hens not 12 or 25 I need to have them shipped).

I didn't hear you lost your chickens.....I am sorry that happend. they always go for the best ones.

thank you. I did have 3 survive, a rooster and 2 hens plus I thankfully had 12 eggs in the fridge and they hatched so those are my way to rebuild part of my lose.

I agree, and I have never heard of a non recognized color winning a best of breed...

They can't. Best of variety is the best they could do. I can't imagine a licensed judge placing a non standard bird as Best of Breed. Many fairs use judges that aren't licensed.

As to the original question-since there is not currently an accepted standard description of Blue Laced Red Wyandottes there's no way to say if they are or are not "show quality".
I have seen pleanty of them at shows & the colour is all over the place. I have yet to see one with good Wyandotte type.
