I have five partridge rock pullets... the following is their weights every week and their week ADG in ounces (divide by 16 to get pounds). I was just wondering if they were okay for their age or small or big or whatsoever. TIA!
I don't know of anyone else who weighs their layer chicks every week to calculate growth. Meat birds, yes. Layers, no. They all seem to have a similar weight. As long as they are acting normally and appear healthy then I would assume they are on track.
when they say bred for eggs and meat it doesnt really mean you want to raise heritage chickens for just meat ...i mean buy them and expect to get good growth from them at 12 weeks...its like if you order straight run you can butcher the roos at 16 to 20 weeks and get decent meat..my last butcher last week was 6 roos at about 16 weeks and average after bagging about 3 pounds 4 ounces...now the meat cornish cross was at 9 weeks just under 6 pounds .... and much more tender...just a thought...jeff
