Bringing in new chickens

That is a good idea about calling Ideal. I am about 2.5 hours from them, so that is doable.

Yeah, I thought I might keep a blue rooster if I get one from hatching eggs. The issue is we already have a black boy. That would be sad just to replace him (he is a pretty good boy) and I don't want to manage two roosters. Our flock free ranges all day and we only have one coop. I thought I could manage the increase in blues by only keeping blue babies and giving away the others. Then when Rooster is needing to be replaced, I can replace him with a blue that I hatch out.

Ideal was a no-go, but, I found a shipment of day olds that will be available on 6/5. YAY! I will have to drive 3.5 hours one way, but I will do that. Since I am coming so far, they said they will set the 6 I want aside for me.

My husband thinks I am crazy. HAHAHA

I least I can break up the trip. My daughter lives close to where they will be, so I get to see her, my grands and get blue australorps...win, win, win!
