New Asil cockerel attacking hens

Turning a rooster or cockerel loose and having it go well would be an exception, not the norm.
Really, I have often done this. Not a lot of problems as long as there are not other roosters. I did do a pair of cockerels about 3 months, and the hens were a bit tough on them for a few moments, but it quickly calmed. I have had young roosters stay on a lower roost for a week, but then made it to the top roost, and all were in love.

I will admit, I don't have any experience with the gamefowl, but generally roosters will want to be with hens unless quite young. I would expect a 6 month old bird to be ready for hens. Maybe not with gamefowl.

Certainly, separating the bird with a see no touch, is a doable and reasonable idea, and if it doesn't work, well you can do something later knowing you have tried.

🤣 me too but I don’t want to encourage that because if it goes wrong someone will say “that dingbat said it would be fine!” In general, a slow introduction is a good idea. I think it very much depends on the cockerel/rooster and until you have a feel for it or how your flock will react it’s better to try the slow intro first because no harm, no fowl 😆

My Games have tried breeding at 3-6 weeks, to 4 months. It varies slightly. Sometimes not until 5-6 months.
