New Asil cockerel attacking hens

Turning a rooster or cockerel loose and having it go well would be an exception, not the norm.
Really, I have often done this. Not a lot of problems as long as there are not other roosters. I did do a pair of cockerels about 3 months, and the hens were a bit tough on them for a few moments, but it quickly calmed. I have had young roosters stay on a lower roost for a week, but then made it to the top roost, and all were in love.

I will admit, I don't have any experience with the gamefowl, but generally roosters will want to be with hens unless quite young. I would expect a 6 month old bird to be ready for hens. Maybe not with gamefowl.

Certainly, separating the bird with a see no touch, is a doable and reasonable idea, and if it doesn't work, well you can do something later knowing you have tried.

🤣 me too but I don’t want to encourage that because if it goes wrong someone will say “that dingbat said it would be fine!” In general, a slow introduction is a good idea. I think it very much depends on the cockerel/rooster and until you have a feel for it or how your flock will react it’s better to try the slow intro first because no harm, no fowl 😆

My Games have tried breeding at 3-6 weeks, to 4 months. It varies slightly. Sometimes not until 5-6 months.

I brought home an Asil cockerel and he instantly attacked any pullet that approached him. I have heritage breeds of pullets. Is there any hope that he can coexist with my flock? What is the best way to integrate him into the flock?
When introducing our cock to a flock of hens we either tether them and let the hens have the yard and get use to him, or we use a 2x2 wire pen and let the hens draw to him. When the hens are right they will warm up to him if hes the only cock visable. Once they do you can release the cock and let them do their thing, if he is aggressive with them still, then he needs a time out. and we switch the cock with the hen in the cage. Now he will dance around the cage but cant get to her, when he winds down and the hen is interested, we release the hen. This usually seals the deal.
