Are my chickens panting?

I was wondering if my chickens are panting, their mouths are open and it is pretty hot outside. What should I do?

Yes, they are panting. They will also put their wings out from their body. No sweat glands, gotta do something!

Make sure they have shade and cool water to drink.

A BYCer let hers float in a pool!! But cool water and shade ought to be enough.

Yes, chickens pant in the heat.

Make sure they have shade, fresh water. Some people use a mister on the run area to cool it off. Others use fans.

You can serve them watermelon and ice cubes floating in their water bowl.

Or canteloupe with mixed greens and walnuts with raspberry viniagrette dressing.

OK I think I am being a little silly here.

I have used a mister in the run and boy do they NOT like it sprayed right on them.
