Hmmm, I think the timing of the rain is more apt for my chickens. They seem to have a pattern of ranging the yard and I can almost always count on finding them roosting somewhere by 11AM, apparently tired from all their foraging. So if its raining at that time they aren't out in it, if its between 6-11 they are out. I would probably see some patterns during the remainder of the day, but I'm not consistenly home or have time to observe them. I do know that before going to roost at night they make 2-3 big circles of the yard, rain or shine then head for the coop. I have one Welsummer that will perch on the pop door or right outside on the perches for 15-20 minutes after everyone else has gone to roost. They are creatures of habit.
