Are my chicks ok?

Most, if not all, of them have matted chest/breast feathers.

Could the just have gotten wet, or is this a serious disease?

They are about 1 week old.

They were in an aquarium, and now they are in a rubbermaid container. The waterer is on a plate (so they wouldn't kick shavings in to it) on the shavings. We were cleaning it every day.

What other information is needed?

Why would they have gotten wet?

What should we do?

You need to make sure they are dry and warm now.

If your water is on a plate they could easily walk onto it and that's how they got wet. You need to figure out another way to give them water without them being able to get into it. If you can buy a premade waterer, that would be the best idea.
