Are my dogs in danger?

Yes bring them in. maybe leave a light on out by your chickens. If you don't have a cover I would put one on for now, maybe a tarp or something like that. Coons can climb well and do lots of damage. every bodies advice is good stuff so take it. Do you have dog crates or some kind of cage to put them in for the night, that would probably be best, for you and your chicks. Hope Their all safe.

The chicken wire top is probably the weakest part of your setup. Very easy for a coon to tear thru. And unless the rocks are, well, small boulders, just about anything will just roll them aside in the process of tearing things up. The dog kennel may work better for the chicks if you cover it with the hardware cloth on the sides and top and lay down a skirt around it. Since your moving I think I'd just use the kennel in the garage for now, if you have one.

I remember a few years ago, a celeb's small dog (forgot the breed) was attacked and carried off by a coyote, right in front of her in broad daylight. They never found it, i believe. You shouldnt put small puppies outside, is my point. I'm not trying to scare you, just want you to know what would happen.

You live near me. I'm in Fannin County. I'd bring in the little dogs, personally. Trust me, we do have bears that roam our woods, not to mention coyotes, fox and a boar raccoon is not a small animal, either.

Chicken wire will NOT keep out a predator that wants to get in - they can climb, and then chew through the chicken wire with their teeth (like hot knife going through butter).

Could you put a heavy plywood on top secured by heavy rocks or something?

Naw, while you at it take your youngest child outside and fix him/her a little corral and have he/she guard your chickens. Leave water and a flashlight..............

Our neighbor's little dog was attacked in the middle of the day last year by a coyote in their front yard. It took off with what was left of the dog:(

X2 When I get a nuisance call here I can usually figure out just talking to folks what I need for traps just by asking what kind of animals they have lost so far and where they are located more and more we are getting yotes in town here and yotes will lure and kill fairly large dogs just because my dog was big I would not consider them safe
