Are my ducklings Cayugas?

The best I've been able to come up with is a hatchery three hours away. The only problem is they don't have any cayugas right now. The person I spoke to said they might have some hatching today and if so, I can drive over there tomorrow. It will be worth the drive.
Fingers crossed!

(Not that 'right now' is incredibly important to me, but my Pudge is kind of freaking out without Pickles and I'm really hoping another friend will help her cope.)

They hatched and we (my sister and my 39 week pregnant self) made the journey yesterday! We picked up two Cayuga ducklings we named Archie and Lois. We also came home with a Toulouse gosling that we named George! Not my husband's favorite surprise, but.. Oh well. :D
The new crew! Archie, George, and Lois in that order.
Pudge meeting the new crew. Archie's face is priceless.

They are adorable, I hope Pudge likes them because as you know adult ducks can injure or kill babies so please keep an eye on them when you have them out with her.

Yep! They're only out together if I'm watching them. The little ones stay in the pen during the day while Pudge is loose so they can still be around each other but can't get to each other. At night, the little ones come inside and Pudge goes in the pen in case of predators.

Back to the beginning, those are all definitely cayugas. Most baby cayugas have the little whitish yellow spot on their chest. It grows out as they get older. They aren't black Swedish.

Pudge is doing better with the little ones now! They interact well and eat and drink and run around without problems. I still plan on keeping them separated until they're bigger, just in case. This is so exciting for me. Pudge let me hold her a couple of times. I think she was jealous.

I'm now 40 weeks pregnant and I'm worried more about having to leave these guys for a few days than labor. Is that weird?

Well hopefully you'll have a good duck sitter standing by. once you go into labor ducklings and duck will be forgotten. [for a while anyway] lol

My mom will be taking care of them. She took care of Pickles and Pudge for a couple days when they were about three weeks old. It's just so hard to leave my babies. ;-;
Lol.
