Last summer I found that a great treat was some ice cubes.
They run around chopping on them until they completely melt.

All of mine including my geese love to eat ice and snow. maybe their hoping it will disappear faster if they eat it.I just took a quick peek out the window and saw my indian runners eating ice chunks that I just busted out of their bowls when I gave them their fresh water a half hour ago! Crazy birds no wonder they are shivering out there!
Thats funny you know that hail probably hurt when hitting them, we had an ice storm couple weeks ago and those ice pellets hurt me when I was out there in it. of course the only place they would feel the hail would be on their faces but still. ouchmine do this too. 2 summers in a row we had hail storms. The Pekins and Runners both stood outside and tried to catch the falling ice. Then went around like little vacuum cleaners and ate it all up. My chickens also eat snow all of the time.
