I have some turken eggs in the incubator, they're only on day 2, but i figured i would check them anyway since my 'home eggs' start showing about then. They are in an auto-turner so i dont have to fuss wiht them everyday. when i checked them out, i just checked about 7 random ones. i had a few with disrupted air sac, those looked funny but i kind of expected that. but when i checked the others they were just the same...

all of the yolks look like theyre at the very top of the egg, like dead-center, top of the egg. should they look like this? my others all are about middle of the egg(not in a turner).

It has been quite a while since i last used the turner and my memory is bad anyhow...Am i over-worrying? i'm not worried that they dont show yet, since they were shipped, but the yolks seem like theyre all in a weird place..?

I believe that is right. mine look like that to sometimes. There should be the air cell at the top, but below that i can see yolk.

I sure hope they're still good. they look like theyre where the air cell should be

2 days..... chuckle.

Patience grass hopper. Leave them alone. They need to settle from travel. Stop meddling.

Turn your back on the incubator and WALK away now.

Go back next week.

Chamomile tea. Possibly valium. Breathe.

What Walkswithdog says. oddly enough the less I mess with them the better the hatch turns out.

There is the white thingie that is attached to the yoke when you crack one open to cook it. I think it is called the chaz...something. Its purpose it to keep the yoke centered in the egg shell like a punching bag with a rope above and a rope below to the floor. When you move the eggs, the yoke moves around and it takes the chaz... a day or so to tighten back up and reposition the yoke again.

You moving the eggs messes it up again. Wait 10 days then see if the egg is dark or clear. remove the DNDs (did not develop) add water if needed and wait another 11 days then look only when you hear loud cheeping.

Good luck.

So today is day 8 and i candled, there's only 3 good eggs left in the batch of 28...most look like they just didnt develop? but 2 of the bad ones have blood rings...im not sure what went wrong, temp & humidity have held solid the whole time.

im glad i decided to move the bators into the basement or this would have been a double disaster. all the other eggs (in the 2nd bator) are growing great, except some that i knew were old or had low fertility rates with in the past. i incubated some (low fert. rate eggs)from the same person before and got the same, low results but figured i'd try again to make sure it wasnt just me.

I use broody hens not incubators. I candle all the time. Aren't I a bad girl?? I think with incubators u have to be more careful.

Ever see the way hens treat eggs? Well, at least my hens fight over eggs. One hen gets up and the other hen sticks her neck out and rolls the egg underneath herself.

I hate hatch day. I get so nervous. I like it when I find fuzzies not peeping chicks.

Speaking of which, I need to check on my new chicks.

why is it that we do not have spell check?? At 3am my spelling, typing and grammar are not top notch.
