So we decided to try and hatch some of our ducks eggs this spring and they have been doing great up till today. Todah is day 10 and they look kind of funny. I'm sure if it's a blood ring or if the embryo is growing attached to membrane...or maybe I'm just paranoid and everything is fine. The picture aren't that great but the egg is only orange on one side. And it's not horizontal but vertical. I can't find any info on this. Can anyone help me out please? :)

Are you turning them by hand or are they in an auto-turner? But the veining looks wonderful!

Edit: If by hand, how many times/day?

They are fine. Sometimes they just start to develop only on one half of the egg like that. They should spread out more in the next week or so. Sometimes this is due to not turning often enough, but sometimes it just happens like that. Do you have an auto-turner, or are you doing it by hand? Eggs should be turned an odd number of times a day if doing by hand, at least 3 times a day but 5 is better. Good luck! :)

I am turning them by hand 3 times a day. I'm glad they are okay! I have three in there right now and they all look the same. I hadn't seen anything about them growing on one side like that so I got nervous haha. Thanks for the help :)

Yeah, I've had a couple batches do this myself, and all hatched without issue. No worries!

Be sure to come back and post pics after they hatch! ^-^
