Are my eggs okay?

Good luck, yeah shipped eggs can be a real pain sometimes! I hope your remaining little guys start externally pipping for you soon! :fl

Assisting is pretty nerve wracking when you start out, luckily with a good guide like that it is unlikely that you will hurt your little one while assisting as long as you follow the instructions, I hope you won't have to assist though! :)

A little update for everyone. Two of the 4 that were left had died, I don’t entirely know when but I’ve opened them and one seemed to have begun to pip the inner (I’ve had a brain fart can’t remember the name) this one hadn’t properly absorbed its yolk

I did a few of the tests you can do to check if a chick is still alive inside the egg first before I even attempted to open the shell. As for the other I have 0 idea what might have happened like the last one I made sure to do the tests before opening and after opening a tiny hole first i found it already dead. It was very bloody and the beak was directly under a vein thing (I forget technically words I’m sorry) I’m not sure what could have happened to them. I assume because they were very wet when I opened them that humidity was far too high but chicks are born wet so it’s confusing. Here’s a photo of chick 2.

At least they are both together in chicken afterlife and not alone. The other two eggs I’m leaving alone until day 24 i can feel one moving around so at least that’s something..

I'm so sorry you lost two, if the air cells didn't grow big enough for the first one it could definitely affect its ability to hatch. The second was likely bad luck, it sounds like it broke a blood vessel that was too large for the chick to deal with the blood loss. :hugs

If you've been hearing cheeping for two days now from some of those eggs they may be running out of time, usually 24 hours after pipping internally (if you are hearing cheeping they should be internally pipped) they should have externally pipped. If they haven't externally pipped by now their oxygen will likely run out soon, being the hands on hatcher I am I would begin assisting at this time to try to give them the best chance (starting with a safety hole). At this late stage helping them carefully is more likely to help than hurt in my opinion. Whatever you do them being this far behind the other hatchers makes their chances go down by a lot but there is always hope.

Of course the more popular hands off approach is completely acceptable, if you aren't comfortable helping that is a perfectly valid personal choice. I do hope your little ones hatch for you! :fl

I did a assisted hatch last night sadly one of the eggs was already cold and had suffocated before managing to pip externally BUT there is very good news my largest brown egg is still alive and thriving just waiting for her to hatch now :)

Here are some pictures of the little ones that hatched the other day. I believe the grey one to be a lavender araucana but not 100% sure and the yellow one is just a yellow one because I have no idea when it comes to chicken breeds

Aww those two babies are adorable, I love the down color on the lavender one especially, so pretty/cute! :love

I'm so sorry about the one egg not making it, I'm glad your last egg is still going and the baby has a chance due to your help! Is the live unhatched baby still absorbing blood vessels and yolk? I hope it makes it out for you soon! :fl

Some of the blood vessels have turned black but there’s still a few red ones left, as for the yolk I don’t think it’s fully absorbed I can see a yellowy thing in there still that I don’t think is the actual chick itself which I assume is the yolk

Ah good, it sounds like it is doing what it is supposed to then, hopefully it will finish up for you soon! Being so late it's definitely not out of the woods but your assistance should give it the best chance, good luck!

The last one randomly started haemorrhaging I have no idea what happened I didn’t nick it’s blood vessels at all I have no idea how it bled out it was alive five minutes ago and boom dead and blood everywhere I’m so beyond confused
