Are my eggs resting or have they died???

In my experience eggs with pips underneath have hatched just fine. Make sure your temp and humidity is correct and then sit on your hands, haha! It’s so hard to just watch and wait and hope the babies make it out safely.

Ok, thanks. I keep hearing cheeps coming from one of the eggs and keep seeing an egg tooth peck at the external pip. My chicks started pipping on day 19. Overnight 1 more has pipped and the first 2 have made a little progress.

2 hours later and no progress, I have been running time lapse videos on the eggs to see if they have moved. One of them was pecking very weakly at the shell but wasn’t breaking any pieces off. When will they start making progress?

It can take around 24 hours from the external pip to when they are ready to start unzipping. During that time they are absorbing the remains of the yolk and the blood that's been running through the veins in the membrane. Only once they have done all that will they be ready to hatch. Unzipping can take about an hour.

I know its hard to be patient at this stage.

One of the eggs is trying to unzip but is failing every time to disloge a piece of shell. Is there anything I can do and will he/she be okay?

I just had an egg that pipped 24hrs ago hatch no problem - there was very little movement for a long time so it might just be that it needs to rest. If the chick can breath, give it some time before deciding to assist - usually if they're healthy they'll survive for a while.
