I have had chickens for a year now, and I think my hen is actually setting! The girls all guard the box that she is setting in, and I'm kinda freakin' out! Will I be a chick mama? I can't wait! Is this really gonna happen?

SILLY QUESTION ALERT!!!!!

do you have a roo?

If you've only seen her one the nest for one day, she may not be broody. If she's been one the nest for longer than 48 hours, chances are may be that you will be a chick moma.

If she is broody, I totally recomend you seperate her from the flcok into her own box nest. My hens also hung out around My broodies nest when she wasn't yet separated. It maybe that they are gaurding her.

Well, one of the hens got into her nest and and fought with the broody. The result was many scattered eggs and a couple broken ones. If this doesn't happen to your hen, it will probobly be her abandoning the nest, smothering her eggs and/or chicks, or having an extremely low hatch rate.
