Are my hens ready to lay yet

Hi all. I purchased 4 hens from my feed store. Their birthday is April 14. The owner told me they will start laying at the end of August. He raises hens himself, so I figured he would know. However this seems early based on what I read here. I have 2 Columbian Wyandottes and 2 Welsummers. What do you think?

At the end of August they will be around 18 weeks old, which is when many chickens begin to lay. I raised 3 welsumer sisters, and one began to lay at 18 weeks, while the others were several weeks later. I would expect eggs from these hens sometime in September. Hope this helps
