She's been a faithful layer since about 6mos or so. I get maybe 4 a week. Recently (I'd say about a week ago)my naked neck rooster "stepped on" her and she layed 2 eggs since nothing unusual. Today i noticed a little white speck that looks similar to those on google that show eggs are fertilized. What do you guys think? should i wait longer to try to incubate? I want to try hatching a cpl. I still have a lot of research to do since It would be my first time but 1st things 1st i need to make sure my eggs are ready for all that. Ive attached pics and on 2 I circled the dot due to reflection from the light. Let me know what you guys think. Also, does a hen lay more than 1 egg at a time when fertilized?

I cannot really tell, but it you want you can...if you have more eggs...

1. Get a flashlight
2. put it on the bottom of the egg
3.Make sure it is in a dark place and the flashlight is really strong
4. Then, if fertile you will see a dark circle on the bottom of the egg (the rounder part)

Ok. Thats what i did at 1st but wasnt sure what exactly i was looking for. Google didn't help much there was so many different pics and articles but what ur explaining is exactly what I saw. I cracked it to look for the dot in the yolk and there it was. Thanks! Im thinking they are fertilized👍👍👍

All eggs will have a little white dot it’s when they have the ring around the dot like a bull’s-eye that is the sign they are fertile. Of course you have to crack the egg open to determine this!😊

Did they successfully complete the cloacal kiss
I'm not sure that egg is fertile, not a hard lined bulleye, but more than just the blastodisc.

You can't candle an egg to tell if it's fertile,
unless it has been incubated at ~100°F for 3-4 days.
Your number 4 is just the air cell, all eggs have these, fertile or not.

I think they cloacly kissed ok. He grabbed her by the top of her head and she kinda ducked down when he stepped on her..thats true love if u ask me 😝 but I will give it a little longer just in case. Im thinking an extra week

Are you going to let her sit on them?
I was thinking of getting one of those incubator things but i do have a heat light i use for my chicks idk if that'll do if I let her sit on them. I'm still looking into everything I'll need. For sure I'm going to hold off for a while until I get all my stuff together or Probably just wait until spring time to try hatching.

After a hen mates, she will keep laying the usual number of eggs per day or eggs per week.
But for about a week after mating, every egg will be fertile.
If she continues to mate at least once a week, she should continue to lay fertile eggs for as long as she's laying eggs at all.

If she's penned away from the rooster, she will go back to laying infertile eggs sometime between 1 and 3 weeks after the last time she mated.
