Are Orpington eggs hard(er) to hatch than "norm"?

I read somewhere about Orpington eggs that were hard to hatch. Developed normally and then quit. Is this normal for the breed or what?

People say the same thing about the Marans, all you need to do is get the temp. and humidity right and you will be fine.

IMO, yes. Shipped eggs are hard on them! however I have better success with other breeds in hatching than I do with Orps, so you will have to get MORE to get what you need LOL!

IMO, no they are NOT harder to hatch. Right now I have 12 lav orp eggs in the bator and it is day 17 and all 12 are vital! There are all types of incubators used and everyone has their own way of incubation methods and I think that's where you run into variables on hatch rate. Also are they fresh from your own yard, picked up local or were they shipped eggs, that can make a difference sometimes but again not always. There are those who have excellent hatch rate even with shipped eggs. For me bantams are harder to hatch as they don't have the conception rate that LF do, just from my own personal experiences.

Difficult question to answer because it depends on many things. Are the eggs shipped or are they your own? Are they "production" birds? What type of incubator used? etc.

For me, I have no problem hatching orpington eggs from my hens, although I do have one hen (Clementine) whose eggs are quite challenging to hatch. Other than her eggs, 99% of all the other eggs hatch. It has been my experience that shipped orpington eggs ARE harder to hatch. I've heard a lot of people say the same thing; yet others say differently. Then again, I would say that any breed of eggs that are shipped are harder to hatch. JMO.

I had Buff Orpington's. I had 27 chicks out of 30 eggs on my first time incubating. My Orpington's were great. I miss having them.

I have done lots of hatching. My worst hatch rates are always shipped Orpington eggs. I don't know why, and it doesn't matter who the seller is (I have had 4 sellers, same results) .... they are always a challenge for me to hatch.

ETA: This does not include my Lavender Orps (project birds/eggs), which were a huge success. I think like 16 of 18, or something like that.
